Note: This post was written before the coal mine explosion in West Virginia. 25 coal miners have died after a huge explosion at a Massey Energy mine in Raleigh County in the worst mining disaster in the US in over 25 years. Read more about that at democracynow.org

The African American Environmentalist Association was asked in a letter should Black people own coal mines in a global warming world? The face of this request was Shane Evans, a mine dispatcher at Arch Coal’s Thunder Basin Coal Company.

Evans even throws in information in the brief video below about his brother fighting for our country in Afghanistan while he tries to do his part here in the states by providing “clean, efficient, low priced energy”. Coal puts out temperature-raising carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, furthering the global warming and climate change that fancy light bulbs won’t be able to save us from. (more…)

Let me start by saying I have heard this theory before following this earthquake.

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chávez, long critical of the United States and its policies claims that the US the earthquake that has devastated Haiti was caused by a secret tectonic weapon that was being tested by the US Navy.

The weapon claims Chávez was intended to be used to eventually destroy Iran and invade and occupy Haiti.

He is quoted by Spanish newspaper ABC as saying the earthquake

may be associated with the project called HAARP, a system that can generate violent and unexpected changes in climate.”

H.A.A.R.P.: Live from Wembley is a live album and video by English alternative rock band Muse, released on March 17, 2008 in the United Kingdom and April 1, 2008 in the United States. I doubt Chávez is a Muse fan but that album was pretty damn good.

The HAARP Chávez is talking about is the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program located in the wilderness of Alaska in a place called Gakona.
