Recently I watched the video of Sarah Palin regaling members of the National Riffle Association with “You might be a redneck” jokes.

When she made this speech I figured out what Sarah Palin’s real identity was. No, not just the wife of an 18 year employee of BP. No, not just the politician who quit her governor gig for a better paying one. Sarah Palin is the wife of The Simpson’s character Cletus The Slack Jawed Yokel.

Brandine and Cletus are both stereotypical representatives of so-called “trailer trash.” Brandine and Cletus were married by Homer Simpson despite the fact that they are oft-insinuated to be related (siblings, cousins, each other’s parents, and aunt/uncle)” ~simpsons.wikia.com

As much as it pains me I find myself writing about this woman again and yet here we are. Much like news about Jiggahov and the Mrs sometimes I am compelled to write about super famous persons like this. They’re always in the news, probably not because they are so awesome but because the mainstream media insists on focusing on entertainers and salacious quotes. (more…)

Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska who didn’t even finish her term as governor, is going to have a reality show on Discovery Communications‘ TLC cable channel. They prefer to call it a “documentary series about the remarkable Governor Palin and her home state of Alaska” not a reality show. I prefer to call it affirmative action for a hateful, an anti intellectual white woman who showed up in the right places at the right times and said what some folks wanted to hear over and over again.

To some she may come off as folksy, “middle America” type hockey mom, but I’ve always thought of her as more of a battle rapper. She showed up to the Republican Nation Convention with battle rap punchlines for Obama’s camp.

She had, to quote Canibus in “How We Roll”, “many lines, more lines than a million pair of Adidas/ More lines than the bible quoted from Jesus/ More lines than a African herd of zebras”. She’s got as much bravado as any rapper and gets away with far more so this list for me was inevitable. (more…)

Years ago Alaska “belonged” to Russia then the United States “bought” it from Russia for $7.2 million on this day, March 30, in 1867. Initially the purchase wasn’t received well. Critics of President Andrew Johnson’s Secretary of State William H. Seward called the largely unexplored territory “Seward’s folly,” “Seward’s icebox,” and Andrew Johnson’s “polar bear garden”. My favorite is the polar bear garden one!

I guess the joke was on them because there was gold in them thar hills and oil and plenty of pipelineable land! Those are all good things, way better than nature and indigenous peoples. (more…)

I was womaning the sofreshsogreen twitter account that day and I knew at the time I could do better than that answer. Maybe not in 140 characters though so here goes.

In 5 years Hip Hop will be the same as it is now only younger with less powerful statements being made to illuminate the Black or the human experience. Oh yeah, there will be lots of bright colors too.

She could teach Jay-Z and Cassidy about being a hustler homie. Sarah Palin is at it again, this time she’s looking to get an “Planet Earth-type look” in a docudrama in Palin’s home state Alaska according to the good folks at ecorazzi.com.

Sadly once it finds a network home her show will likely be a hit no matter how backwards the idea of Sarah Palindrome as an environmentalist or true nature lover is. I can’t act like this idea is the same backwards and forwards. It’s just backwards and that’s it. If this show gets off we can prepare to look at the appropriation and bastardization of the word environmentalist by the right wing. (more…)

Seriously, isn’t she awesome?

Years from now our children’s children will look upon this woman with the awe she deserves. It’s a very sophisticated thing she does, so sophisticated the democrats haven’t been able to duplicate it and haven’t been successful enough at counteracting it.

Then again maybe that’s not saying much. So maybe years from now our children’s children will look upon the Democrats with awe as to how they allowed this woman to become so successful.

Those children will probably not live in Alaska because it may not exist anymore according to Palin.
