We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Hip Hop legend Guru, born Keith Elam. DJ C-Reality and DJ3D of WBAI’s Underground Railroad with Jay Smooth put together this heartfelt, soulful tribute with 2 DJs and 4 turntables at once to say Rest In Power to the legend.

43 year old rapper Guru died Monday of cancer related complications. The rap legend recently suffered a cardiac arrest in February then slipped into a coma.
Gang Starr was formed in 1985 with Guru and DJ Premier. The two went on to make Hip Hop history with songs like “Words I Manifest” and one of my more recent favorites “Dwyck”.
I grew up listening to these guys and this is a sad day for me and other true Hip Hop fans, particularly based on the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to MTV.com Gang Starr has a falling out, which we all knew about. I guess the falling out was so bad Guru, born Keith Elam, allegedly, specifically left word he didn’t want DJ Premier “to be able to participate in any tributes or events surrounding his death.”
That letter is painful to read as a fan but if you’d like to you can at MTV.com

Recently Guru, half of the legendary Hip Hop group Gang Starr, suffered a heart attack and was in a coma due to “controlled medications” according to hiphopdx.com.
Not only was there sorrow and warm wishes in the Hip Hop community there were a lot of questions regarding the emcee’s status, whether his family was being allowed to see him or even know about Guru’s illness.

Once again house DJ for WBAI’s The Underground Railroad DJ3D along with Jersey’s own DJ C-Reality did their own sets recently on WBAI.
This time DJ C-Reality switched it up with some throwback Valentine’s surprises in his set that are sure to please – not too smushy and with a lot of heart as always.
DJ3D brought us up to date with a more current set that’s not your average and some Dilla to remember the late musician.
R.I.P. to the MCs we remember in February like Big Pun and Big L.
These 2 DJs are real pros and work so well together. It’s all about coordination! That’s why the pic above is so symbolic.
