Beyonce and her trainer/exercise physiologist Marco Borges, have created 22 Days Nutrition, which delivers plant-based food right to your door. Meals start at $15 each with a variety of delivery plans based on frequency. Last year Beyonce and her husband, Jay Z, took a 22-day vegan challenge. Some considered it bandwagon hopping but apparently she considered it a business opportunity.
Recently, celebrities like Jennifer Lopez also did a vegan stunt stint. Maybe the person who brought these celebrities to a place where they wanted to flirt with vegansim was President Bill Clinton who famously converted to a vegan diet after serious health and heart problems. The benefits of a plant based diet are numerous so why would anybody take issue with this? Continue reading →
“‘Occupy All Streets’ is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.” – A Rocawear spokesperson as told to Business Insider
If you’ve read the About page here you’ve seen that I do not care for Jiggahov and the Mrs. and in the past I have also been critical of Kanye West. So when I found out Jay-Z’s clothing company Rocawear was selling “Occupy All Streets” shirts with zero proceeds going to Occupy Wall Street or any of the Occupy movements I wasn’t surprised but I was still disgusted. Maybe more like revolted. Jay-Z has made a living off of rhyming about selling crack, destroying his community and being better than you. After releasing an album with Kanye West called Watch The Throne he has attempted to appropriate and capitalize on the Occupy movement which has as one of its main features a democratic assembly. Perhaps the correct thing to do would have been Continue reading →
I don’t much care for this Glenn Beck character and when I say that I really mean it. I only knew who he was maybe last year. It seemed to me his rocket to fame shot up inexplicably fast, faster than Beyonce’s fame, and even more out of nowhere for me. I never intended for this website to be a home for this guy, Jay-Z or the Mrs., and yet here we are….
Apparently this fiery right wing FOX News “talk” show host is secretly Al Gore, a treehugging hippie liberal.
Maybe that’s an exaggeration about both parties, but according to a recent Mother Jones article Beck has views that are clearly contrary to those of his most loyal viewers and his on air persona. These revelations are from a recent interview Beck did with USA Weekend.
You’d be an idiot not to notice the temperature change” ~Glenn Beck
Not only is Glenn Beck a believer in climate change but he also believes it’s a problem and in part manmade.
Lupe Fiasco will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about the need for clean water worldwide. He won’t be alone, he’ll have Jessica Beil with him, Isabel Lucas and singer and producer Kenna. The organized expedition called Summit on the Summit is set for next January.
The Summit on the Summit Mount Kilimanjaro climb for awareness was organized by Kenna. In Ethiopia his father suffered from waterborne diseases as a child.
In fact as we all know water is a basic need for humans. One can live longer without water than one can live without water. Not just any water but clean water and many living in industrialized or western countries may be as “astonished” as Jessica Beil was to learn over a billion persons worldwide don’t have access to clean water.
Miriam Makeba- “Kilimandjaro”
Friends, Miriam Makeba is one of my favorite artists of all time and I was greatly saddened when she died. However she left so much good music for us that I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to select this for you. Continue reading →
I never really wanted sofreshandsogreen.com to be a home for Jiggahov and the Mrs. in any capacity but when I came across this bit of information I couldn’t resist.
My first thought was Jay-Z has been spending too much time with Russell Simmons. But instead it’s Chris Martin from Coldplay that has inspired the rapper. Chris is his new bff and apparently Chris is rubbing off on him.
Official description: When Chris Rock’s daughter, Lola, came up to him crying and asked, “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” the bewildered comic committed himself to search the ends of the earth and the depths of black culture to find out who had put that question into his little girl’s head!…
It’s true ideas about “good” and “bad” hair are still alive and well among Black folk. These days the konk is still much celebrated. A Black icon like Beyonce comes off as looking “fierce” for scalping a Scandinavian woman and putting on her head in every video since “Me, Myself and I” while Cynthia McKinney’s natural do makes people think she’s “wild”. Hey, maybe Beyonce did scalp a Scandinavian woman and maybe Cynthia McKinney is wild but are burns on your scalp from relaxers worth it? I just think these questions should be asked and these topics examined. Ultimately I think it can become a mental and physical health issue.
By the way Lola looks way too young to be getting a relaxer, but that’s just me.
Here’s the trailer for “Good Hair”, the Recipient of A Special Jury Prize: U.S. Documentary. In theaters this October.
