Tequila shots, lemon drops, dancing on the table tops/ You know when you’re really drunk? When you say you’re not.”
It’s been fascinating to watch the spectacle of the music industry struggling to survive its own inevitable extinction, at least in this incarnation. In the meantime the creative types have sought to change the ways in which music is released. From Radiohead to the White Stripes to Pearl Jam to Murs finally Hip Hop shakes it up a bit more. (more…)

With only 34 percent of non-alcoholic bottles and 25 percent of PET plastic bottles recycled annually, Pepsi and Waste Management aim to boost that number to 50 percent through increased recycling at reverse vending machines like the Dream Machines. ~greenbiz.com
You can already get money for recycling but with this reverse vending machine one can recycle cans and bottles then earn reward points or donate cash to charities.
Ah finally, beverage container recycling that’s not just for homeless people! PepsiCo’s Dream Machines program will make as many as 3,000 recycling machines available in high-traffic areas.
There are fears in Canada of a scary new drink called “Drank”. It’s a non alcoholic “extreme relaxation” drink, sort of an anti Red Bull to help calm you down during the recession. The company that makes Drank is Texas based. Its founder Peter Bianchi claims the name is slang for a “celebratory beverage.”
In the Southern states int the US drank is another name for a drink made with codine, promithazene mix and “sizzurp” or syrup known to parents and squares as cough syrup. Oh wait it’s also known to cool people as cough syrup cause young urban people don’t need slang for everything all the time. Anyway, that’s who this drank is supposed to be marketed too and that’s what all these fears are supposed to be about.
Drank has natural ingredients like rosehips, valerian root and melatonin, but it also has (more…)
I recently filled out my census, albeit late, but I saw something that upset me on the census form. No, it wasn’t the word Negro, that’s the least of my problems here. My issue is in the very first part of the questionnaire where it clearly states “Do not count anyone in a nursing home, jail, prison, detention facility, etc., on April 1, 2010.”
The census form then states these persons may be counted twice so they should be left off your form. My issue here is that persons in prisons are counted as residents where they are incarcerated so they’re not counted where they’re from. (more…)
Photo Credit: Earth Hour Global Photostream; Here in Sydney, Australia, at the Earth Hour Global office, we couldn't stop working for Earth Hour, but naturally we still participated.
Some doubt the importance of being so fresh and so green and though it is very trendy now those who are serious about it are taking steps to show the rest the importance of eco awareness. In order to highlight the threat of climate change major landmarks worldwide cut off the lights. Earth Hour 2010 will take place on March 27, 2010 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., local time.
Look out if you’re drinking tonight because blackouts, alcohol and candle fire don’t mix. (more…)

“Here are his thoughts on hip hop: “These youngsters who work in this art in our country – they bring unique Russian charm. Street rap may be a little bit rough, but it contains social meaning – raising social problems. Graffiti becomes a real elegant art. Break dance is something special. It is really a promotion of a healthy lifestyle. It’s hard to imagine break dance being combined with alcohol or drugs. When people perform with acrobatic elements, it really calls for respect.”
A new study in Spain claims regular consumption of alcohol (beer, wine, or hard liquor) reduces the risk of heart disease in men by a third or more.
For this study, more than 41,000 men and women were evaluated for 10 years after being enrolled in the ongoing European Prospective Investigation into Cancer (EPIC) study.
I take issue with this study and what it could mean for Americans in general. Our lifestyles are different and I wonder if that’s enough to make these findings that much less relevant.
Reks- “Hennessy”
“She was a 5 when I came and a dime when I left” ~Reks
I thought this song was mildly offensive at first because Arrested Development’s first album and the song Tennessee was so important to me, then I got over it. I’m not mad at the Mobb Deep reference either. Maybe Reks is trying to lower his risk of heart disease but as for me Hennessy has also taken me to another place and another land…then I didn’t feel so good anymore. (more…)
