Durban Climate Change Conference

Remember all the fuss when the climate change talks were being held in Copenhagen? When there was a chance something might happen to curb climate change? Yeah, that was a while ago, 2009 to be exact. Who remembers 2010′s climate conference in Cancun? I’m not seeing a lot of hands raised. Ok.

Well, this year the United Nations Climate Change Conference is being held in Durban, South Africa, starting today. Maybe if Kim Kardashian were invited it would get more coverage. Also, if anyone thought progress were actually to be made at this conference perhaps that would get it some press too.

From today, November 28th through December 9th 2011 the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 7th Session of the Conference of the Parties (CMP7) to the Kyoto Protocol will take place.

Should any serious moves be made at COP17/CMP7 you can stay on top of it here and through their official channels below. Also here’s a video from the incoming COP17/CMP7 President on Climate Change Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
