Tar Sands Action Surrounds The White House And Words From Activist Tim DeChristopher
on November 8th, 2011 at 4:00 pmImprisoned activist Tim DeChristopher had this to say about Saturday’s massive anti-KeystoneXL Pipeline protest at the White House organized by Bill McKibben’s groups, Tar Sands Action, 350.org, as well as other U.S. environmental groups. Up to 12,000 activists encircled the White House to protest the Keystone XL pipeline, which if approved would be a 1,700 mile pipeline that would carry oil from Canada’s tar sands to the US and other foreign markets. So many people showed up there were more than enough people to encircle the whole White House!
DeChristopher couldn’t be in attendance, obviously, so he sent these words.
350.org: Tim DeChristopher just sent these words from prison. He wanted to make a video, but they don’t allow that behind bars. So, in the tradition of the human mic, we want to see if we can work together to make Tim’s words echo across the country.
