Pears and Apples May Help Lower Stroke Risk

A new study conducted by the American Heart Association found that eating fruits with white flesh could help lower the risk of having a stroke. Some white flesh fruits are pears, apples, and bananas.

White flesh fruits have two key ingredients that reduce the likelihood of having a stroke. One is fiber, which lowers blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are at a greater risk of having a stroke than those who keep their blood pressure low.

The other ingredient is flavonoid, which prevents plaque from building up in the arteries, and can also fight heart disease.

While adding white flesh fruits to your diet can help lower your stroke risk, there are still other factors that you need to look at. Those with a family history of stroke or heart disease are at a higher risk, as well as those with diabetes.

Smoking and lack of exercise can also increase the chances of having a stroke, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the best way to reduce your odds.
