On March 11, 2011 Japan was hit by a 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami. What followed was a nuclear disaster due to the major damage the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant sustained. Remember? It was all over the news just a little while ago…oh, but not anymore though.

Now, months later authorities are finally admitting what experts said was the case, all of Fukushima’s working reactors had low enough drops in their water levels to melt their radioactive cores.

“The meltdown means that each reactor has a pool of highly radioactive water in its base, possibly a cracked reactor casing, and worse…Not only must they continue to cool the reactors, they’re also going to have to dispose of even more radioactive water than they anticipated.”

The radiation releases have led to large scale evacuations, concern about food and water supplies worldwide and treatment of nuclear workers and civilians.
