The Nike Reuse-A-Shoe Program Recycles Your Sneakers
on March 30th, 2011 at 12:00 pmPosted In: GREEN, REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE-REFUSE
Nike’s Nike Reuse-A-Shoe environmental program turns worn-out sneakers into new products. The program accepts any brand of sneakers, not just Nikes, as well as scrap material from our manufacturing facilities.
The sneakers are recycled into Nike Grind, a material used to help build sports surfaces and playgrounds. Nike says they’ve got plans in the works to incorporate more Nike Grind and other environmentally preferred materials into consumer products like shoes and apparel.
