Rusty Redenbacher Knows The Greenest Way To Shave, Do You?
on March 23rd, 2011 at 4:00 pmThe thing about going green is it requires though, knowledge and information and sometimes weighing one option against another. Slate.com tackled an issue that has been debated, What’s the greenest way to shave? Indianapolis, Indiana’s own Rusty Redenbacher knows what it is.
Seems like an easy one but here are a few things a man may have to weigh: Disposable razors or an electric one? An electric razor may last longer but it requires electricity use, which mostly comes from coal in the US, which produces greenhouse gases, which kills little baby polar bears, not to mention making it hard for inner city kids to breathe.
Disposable razors contribute to waste cause they’re disposable, but most of the energy used when using these razors comes from heating the water you use when shaving. But wait, there are higher quality disposable razors that make them a greener option. there’s also the materials used to make an electric razor to consider…
Are you exhausted yet? Don’t be. Brian Palmer of Slate.com has way more stats and information about this than I included here organized in a pleasant way and he figured out an answer for you on which shaver is greener. Find out in Trimming Your Carbon Footprint: What’s the greenest way to shave?
In the end, the greenest ways to shave turns out to be a straight razor, which you may want to consider getting really good at, and the no-brainer: just growing a beard.
When I asked one of my favorite bearded men, emcee and DJ, Rusty Redenbacher, why he decided to grow a beard he responded simply: “No razor bumps.” And you can’t beat that with a baseball bat.
Rusty Redenbacher’s latest album is Lazarus. It’s a grown up, battling an unamed nemesis, hard earned stripes, survivor’s anthem type of project to me, which I enjoyed. Here’s the promo for it below.
I won’t fully review it here because I’m super late in posting this but I will say my favorite tracks are “Older”, the refreshingly original “Lover, Come To Bed (Muse)”, “Double Negative, Part 1″, the heartfelt “Daddy”.
and every single interlude.
