If you think you’ve been hearing from Savant a lot lately you have. Dude stays busy, releasing a new record twice a month since December 2010, the leak series, leading up to the May release of his sophomore project, Crash. Here’s the latest from the Crash Course Leak Series.
“Chosen Two (Men Of Bars)” opens up slowly with echoing chorus that harkens back to the music your parents might have listened to in the 70s with its proud declaration of the “Nameless mighty and the numberless few”.
Then the tempo kicks into high gear and Savant, Habeas Corpus and Rice the Sound Transmitter bring their thumping rhyme style to an energizing a raucous beat courtesy of Habeas Corpus. The song feels like a challenge to the current state of today’s rap, and though it’s not the first to do so, it’s a worthy addition to a long line of songs consistently daring the competition to step their game up.
Savant aka Stanstro will be on tour in the northeast US this month with Abstract Music Group labelmate Rasheed Chappell. Also on the tour for some shows with them will be DJ Uneek (also of M.O.P.), John Public, Jake Lefco, Rising Sun Quest, Sketch the Cataclysm, Catch Wreck and OneThree Music affiliates ASN, Re-Surch, Purpose of the Tragic Allies and DJ Books.
Keep up with Savant’s releases and his leak series at his SoundCloud and BandCamp pages.
