New York producer Hasan Insane remixed one of my favorite songs this year “All I Want Is You” by Miguel featuring J. Cole. One of the things I liked the most about the song was actually the production, which Hasan Insane pulled out of it’s dark, tortured realm to into a ’90s Hip Hop/R&B moment where these types of songs were born. At times this remix reminds me of Brownstone or even “All I Need” by Method Man and Mary J. Blige, which is sampled here too.
I think we lose the haunted feeling Miguel’s vocals provided in the original even though none of his vocals have been touched. The piano gets a bit harsh for me but the strong drums play up the street edge and the strings (yay!) play up up the sentimentality. Take a listen for yourself.
