Don’t Throw Out Those Batteries!!!
on October 21st, 2010 at 12:05 pmPhoto Credit: Madam Toussaint, I’ve never seen so many loose batteries at once in my life.
I went to the Tekserve Electronics Recycling Event and was surprised to find they were accepting batteries. It didn’t say so on the website but perhaps I could have assumed.
Many of the electronics and batteries we use contain toxic waste that cannot be disposed of by simply throwing it in the garbage. They should, instead, be recycled where the most toxic components are removed. Electronics contribute up to 70% of the toxins found in landfills. these toxins can leak into the groundwater then find its way into our waterways and drinking water.
So hang on to your batteries, buy rechargeable ones (I’m going to have to do that one myself too) and dispose of them and your other electronics in a safe way.
