The Top 5 “Healthiest” Fast Food Restaurants
on October 19th, 2010 at 12:11 pmMost of us don’t associate the words “fast food” with the word “healthy” but Shine at yahoo.com has recently put out a list of the Top 5 Healthiest Fast Food Restaurants. Honestly, I’ve read suspect healthy foods posts on Shine before so I thought I’d check out what they were pushing around on the internets.
1. Panera Bread
2. Jason’s Deli
3. Au Bon Pain
4. Noodles and Company
5. Corner Bakery Cafe
Many of these restaurants still aren’t as accessible as a Burger King, which doesn’t make the list- probably because of this. I know where to find an Au Bon Pain, but it can also be a pricey, carby, buttery dining experience “at the good bread”.
The last 5 restaurants on the list which you can find justified at America’s Top 10 Healthiest Fast Food Restaurants via health.com include more popular restaurants like Chipotle, or fast food poster child McDonald’s, which came in at #8 on the list.
6. Chipotle
7. Atlanta Bread
8. McDonald’s
9. Einstein Bros. Bagels
10. Taco Del Mar
I’d don’t know about you but I want Mickey D’s as far away from my fruit as possible, however this list sites menu selections like Apple Dippers as one of the reasons why they makes the “Healthiest Fast Food Restaurants” list. Also small portions of their more signature offerings and Mom menus selections like salad with Paul Newman low-fat balsamic vinaigrette. Looking so cut calories? You’re still better off choosing their small Ice Cream Sundaes over their Yogurt Parfaits.
Bottom Line: A list like this can be deceptive and you can still make so many unhealthy decisions at these within these same restaurants as opposed to not even going near those options. If you’re looking to eat healthy food, you should probably stay away from fast food anyway.
