VIDEO: President Obama Funds Green Jobs & Electric Cars

AP Photo: Lisa Jackson, right, watches as Nadia Montes tests a water sample from Compton Creek as a coalition of public and private stakeholders announced the strategic acquisition of a four-acre “soft bottom” parcel of land in the waterway in Compton, Calif. , Wednesday, July 7, 2010. The creek is a tributary of the Los Angeles River. Federal officials have affirmed that the Los Angeles River qualifies for Clean Water Act protections by designating it as a full-fledged navigable waterway.

Keeping tabs on Prez O and Lisa P is important. They are the President and Head Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency of the US. When she’s not looking at water samples in the Gulf, Lisa P. Jackson’s also on facebook and she posted this.

This happened last week but it’s worth repeating: President Obama spoke with workers at Smith Electric’s new factory in Kansas City. MO. With $32 million from the Recovery Act and $36 million in private capital the electric vehicle company is building up to 500 all-electric trucks — creating jobs and cleaning the air we breathe.

Most electricity comes from coal though, which also contributes to global warming, so this is also dismaying. Our coal habit rivals and beats or oil addiction.

President Obama speaks about building a green energy economy and creating new jobs to employees of Smith Electric, a Kansas City, MO company that is using a grant from the Recovery Act to build all-electric trucks and help create a “Green Impact Zone” in a 150-block area of Kansas City. July 8, 2010.
