Sarah Palin Blames Oil Spill On Environmentalists

Radical environmentalists: you are damaging the planet with your efforts to lock up safer drilling areas. There’s nothing clean and green about your misguided, nonsensical radicalism, and Americans are on to you as we question your true motives.- Sarah Palin

As much as it pains me I find myself writing about this woman again and yet here we are. Much like news about Jiggahov and the Mrs sometimes I am compelled to write about super famous persons like this. They’re always in the news, probably not because they are so awesome but because the mainstream media insists on focusing on entertainers and salacious quotes.

Sarah Palin had an official press conference posted a rant on facebook about the BP oil spill, which she blames on environmentalists. The first paragraph alone gave me a headache but I persevered.

She continued:

Extreme deep water drilling is not the preferred choice to meet our country’s energy needs, but your protests and lawsuits and lies about onshore and shallow water drilling have locked up safer areas. It’s catching up with you. The tragic, unprecedented deep water Gulf oil spill proves it.

And there were more comments on twitter defending “drill baby drill”.

I thought that was a fake twitter account.

For this and for many other reasons I find it difficult to take Palin seriously. Chastising those who want to preserve some nature as opposed ripping up every shred of green patch of land in the country is ludicrous. If it weren’t for environmentalists there wouldn’t have been clear enough, smog free air for Palin to see Russia from her house.

On Fox News Palin also accused President Obama of having ties to BP that led him to take “so doggone long to get in there, to dive in there, and grasp the complexity and the potential tragedy that we are seeing here in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Sigh. My issues were never with the timeliness of the pres’ response, but with his concession to the “drill baby drill” crew and Republicans in the first place. When he decided joining them was better than beating them he compromised his credibility and the safety of the planet and the life that exists on it.

Most of Palin’s arguments are a kind of upside down, toilet flushing backwards, bizzaro world type of affair. When she speaks with enough conviction, with the spin machine on high in the background, those who can identify with her exasperated tone, feelings of impending doom and sense of loss can be swayed.

She inspires many who manage to be asleep at the switch yet active enough to vote against their interests on paper or show up to heckle the president at townhall meeting. She tries to force some type of simulacrum of the truth to take the real truth’s place…and that is dangerous.

Another one of my issues with Palin is the fact that she is the benefactor of affirmative action for white people and this has permitted her to be taken more seriously and make more money than she ever should have.

And for all that, I still don’t think she’s going anywhere anytime soon. I have another post or 2 on my thoughts about Sarah Palin in the near future so stay tuned.
