There are fears in Canada of a scary new drink called “Drank”. It’s a non alcoholic “extreme relaxation” drink, sort of an anti Red Bull to help calm you down during the recession. The company that makes Drank is Texas based. Its founder Peter Bianchi claims the name is slang for a “celebratory beverage.”

In the Southern states int the US drank is another name for a drink made with codine, promithazene mix and “sizzurp” or syrup known to parents and squares as cough syrup. Oh wait it’s also known to cool people as cough syrup cause young urban people don’t need slang for everything all the time. Anyway, that’s who this drank is supposed to be marketed too and that’s what all these fears are supposed to be about.

Drank has natural ingredients like rosehips, valerian root and melatonin, but it also has high-fructose corn syrup and sucrose. It seems it is clearly being marketed to young people who listen to Hip Hop. Here’s the evidence: Product placement spots include a Ludacris video, Keri Hilson’s new music video, featuring Lil Wayne and news coverage in a few spots.

It comes in a purple can and promises to “slow your roll”.

It’s also grape probably because Negroes can’t get enough of grape flavored stuff.

Some are calling it a gateway drink, once kids get a hold of this “drank” they’ll want to move on to the harder stuff, sizzurp, the real thing. I guess the fear is soon they’ll make horrendous music with an ever expanding crew, start record companies like Young Money and begin knocking up a number of brown beauties in the entertainment industry.

If that starts to happen then Drank should be stopped immediately and production should be shut down.

About 2,000 chain stores across Canada will carry the beverage that will be sold for $2.99 starting in the next 6 months.
Do you think it’s wrong that this drink is being marketed to young Hip Hop heads? Do you think the targeting of this specific group with this kind of marketing is racist? Would you drink Drank?
