The Source has released their “Green Issue” this month with Method Man, Ghostface and Raekwon on the cover alternating with J. Cole.
I actually found out about this trough Majora Carter on Twitter who had this to say:
I’m still trying to figure out what “green” means in this instance other than the color scheme. No mention of anything dealing with the environment on the cover. Maybach’s and iPad’s aren’t very green. I haven’t heard back from The Source yet. I also haven’t bought The Source magazine this millennium. I may actually have to out and cop one.
But I wanted a better idea of what’s in it first… cause I’ve been hurt before. This is the most excited I’ve been about this magazine in years. Can I dare to hope more of us in the Hip Hop community want to speak on going green?
I had no idea about this until Ms. Carter’s tweet popped up in my twitter stream. I wondered if The Source should have advertised this better within the green community. Sure it’s probably not printed on 100% recycled paper but neither was Vanity Fair’s green issue in 2008.
Either way The Green Issue is on magazine stands now.
Check out my thought on Raekwon The Chef as Raekwon The Ladies Man HERE and Ghostface’s relationship to overfishing HERE. GZA gets in on the so fresh act HERE. Peace to the gods.
