The late George Carlin was always one of my favorite comedians and one of the reasons why was because so much of his work was so thought provoking, especially when it came to the things we took for granted. In this bit “Stuff”, ironically from poverty relief effort Comic Relief 1986, George Carlin talks about all the stuff we collect over the years, what kind of stuff gets taken when you get robbed, what your house is for and why you work.
At some point we should all ask ourselves if we have too much stuff and if we need all the stuff we have. Stuff comes in packaging, stuff needs to be shipped and stuff gets thrown out everyday. If we can cut down on how much stuff we use we can automatically cut down on pollution and maybe get on with leading healthier lives…
Hey, if you think that was a downer let George lift your spirits with some comic relief.
Can you believe that dude was on Shining Time Station?
