Use vinegar instead of fabric softener.
There is some debate over whether or not fabric softeners are toxic which you can read about in “Is fabric Softener Toxic” among other places, but the fact remains vinegar works well, it’s safer and it’s cheaper.
Wash a full load of laundry.
A full load of laundry more so justifies the amount of energy used to run the washing machine than half a load or that one shirt you really, really need for tomorrow.
Buy wet clean clothes.
We’ve all heard of dry clean, but wet clean? Yeah, that’s the term used for clothes that don’t need to be dry cleaned. Dry cleaning involves some very toxic chemicals so to cut back on the need to use those chemicals you could check the label before you make a purchase and choose something else.
